Original 'The Sandlot' cast reunites for YouTube comedy 'Dugout Dads'

The original cast of The Sandlot has reunited on screen for the first time in more than three decades. The project brings back Patrick Renna, Tom Guiry, Chauncey Leopardi, Marty York, and Brandon Quintin Adams, among others, for a new story about an idealistic father who volunteers to coach his children's Little League team. Renna, who played Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez in the 1993 film, created the series with Kyle Howard through their production company Hambino Media.

The show is not a sequel to The Sandlot but a family comedy that shifts the focus from the kids on the field to the adults in the dugout. According to the official synopsis reported by Nerdtropolis, Coach Patrick discovers that "the most unruly players on the field aren't the ten-year-olds… they're the other coaches, parents, and sometimes himself." The reunion marks the first official on-screen gathering of much of the original cast since The Sandlot opened in 1993.

In addition to Renna, Guiry, Leopardi, York, and Adams, the series includes Victor DiMattia, Shane Obedzinski, Grant Gelt, and Will Horneff, according to Nerdtropolis. Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel appears as Renna's wife. Deadline reported in June that Renna and Howard were developing the project through Hambino Media, describing it as the first official reunion of the original cast since the film's release.

Variety confirmed on Wednesday that the series had dropped on YouTube and that NBA star Chris Paul had signed on as an executive producer. The Sandlot, a coming-of-age baseball comedy, has remained a cultural touchstone for generations of fans, known for lines like "You're killing me, Smalls!" and the legend of "The Beast." Dugout Dads aims to honor that legacy while telling a new story about parenthood, competition, and the purpose of youth sports.
