KATSEYE Drops Out of Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields After Megan Sprains Ankle

KATSEYE was set to be one of more than a dozen acts at Olivia Rodrigo's inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, California, a self-curated all-women event whose proceeds benefit charities supporting women and girls. On Thursday, two days before the festival, the group announced that it would no longer perform because member Megan sprained her ankle during tour rehearsal.

In a note posted to KATSEYE's Instagram Story, the band wrote, "We're so incredibly sorry to share that we are unable to perform at Daisy Chain Fields this Saturday." The statement, reported by Billboard, explained that Megan was evaluated by doctors and advised to stay off the ankle so it could heal before the group's upcoming tour.

"Megan sprained her ankle yesterday during tour rehearsal and after being evaluated by doctors, she has been advised to stay off it and allow it to properly heal so we can be ready for our upcoming tour," the message continued, according to Billboard. "We know how much our fans were looking forward to seeing us, and it breaks our hearts to disappoint anyone who made plans to be there."

The Hollywood Reporter published a slightly different version of the statement, attributed directly to Megan on her own Instagram Story: "Yesterday I sprained my ankle during tour rehearsal and my doctors have advised me to stay off it and let it heal so I can be ready for tour. I'm heartbroken to miss Daisy Chain Fields, especially because of everything this festival stands for."

Daisy Chain Fields was announced in June as a new festival founded by Rodrigo and produced by C3 Presents, debuting August 29 at the Great Park in Irvine. The lineup includes Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Garbage, The Breeders, and special guests Stevie Nicks, Karen O, and Sarah McLachlan. All artists perform for free, and net proceeds go to organizations including Planned Parenthood, the Center for Reproductive Rights, and Baby2Baby.

KATSEYE's statement also acknowledged the festival's mission. "We were especially excited for Daisy Chain Fields because it's not just about music, but the greater mission of joy and community," the group wrote, according to Billboard. "We're sending all our love to Olivia and to all of the incredible artists, non-profit organizations and volunteers who have given their time to make this day so special."

The withdrawal comes during a volatile period for KATSEYE. In February, HYBE announced that member Manon would take a hiatus to focus on her mental health. Earlier in August, Sophia revealed she was also stepping back for mental well-being, leaving the group with four active members: Lara, Daniela, Yoonchae, and Megan. Despite those setbacks, KATSEYE secured its first No. 1 album last week with the EP Wild, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The festival's official Instagram account confirmed the change shortly after KATSEYE's announcement, posting an updated lineup with alt-pop singer-songwriter Devon Again in the group's place. "Megan is recovering from a sprained ankle, and the group will no longer be able to perform this weekend," the post read, according to Billboard. "We are wishing Megan a smooth and speedy recovery!"
