Four arrested after baby girl found dead while camping in Staffordshire

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a three-month-old baby girl was found dead in woodland near Great Wyrley, Staffordshire, where she had been camping with her family. Paramedics pronounced the girl dead a short time later, according to a report by Yahoo News UK. Detectives initially described the death as "unexplained" and said the inquiry was in its early stages, but they also noted that the event appeared to be an "isolated incident."

Detective Inspector Katie Gregory said at the time: "While the investigation remains at an early stage, this is an isolated incident and we understand that the child's family was camping in the area. The death is being treated as unexplained at this time." A fishing lake in the Wyrley and Essington Branch Canal Local Nature Reserve was cordoned off, and drone images showed at least four tents and camping chairs positioned close to fishing platforms. Cheslyn Hay district councillor Robert Duncan urged residents to avoid speculation.

"I know how deeply upsetting news like this is for our community," he said. "It's important that we allow the emergency services the space they need to complete their work with dignity and care. As soon as the full and confirmed details are formally shared with me, I will provide a further update to residents. Until then, please avoid speculation and allow the family and responders the privacy and respect they deserve." In Stafford, a 43-year-old woman was arrested after two children aged two and three died at a home on Corporation Street, the BBC reported.
