First Trailer for Fincher's 'Cliff Booth' Sequel Sets IMAX and Netflix Dates

The first full trailer for David Fincher's 'The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth' arrived Monday, and it wastes no time making clear that the fairytale is over. The Netflix sequel, written by Quentin Tarantino, picks up in 1977, eight years after the events of 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,' and finds Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth working as a bartender and projectionist while moonlighting as a fixer for Hollywood's troubled elite. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer includes a joke at the expense of Pitt's former co-star Leonardo DiCaprio's character Rick Dalton: Booth explains he no longer doubles for Dalton because "Rick got too fat."

The footage also features longer hair, a Led Zeppelin track, mud-wrestling women, handlebar mustaches, classic cars, and a dig at DiCaprio's character, per Time Out. The official description from Netflix, quoted by The Hollywood Reporter, sets the tone: "Murder, blackmail, theft, extortion — just another summer in Hollywood." The story follows Booth as he gets a call from talent agent Karen Crosby, played by Elizabeth Debicki, on behalf of her client Charlie Peters, a TV megastar known for doing his own stunts, played by Scott Caan.

Along the way he meets Peters' wife Toni, played by Carla Gugino, and pro football champion turned screen star Roderick 'Hot Rod' Harrison, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The cast also includes Peter Weller, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian, according to Netflix's Tudum. The film is produced by Pitt and Ceán Chaffin, with Fincher's longtime collaborators Erik Messerschmidt as director of photography and Donald Graham Burt as production designer.

Kirk Baxter edits, Laray Mayfield casts, Trish Summerville designs costumes, Ren Klyce handles sound, and Dave Macomber serves as stunt coordinator. 'The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth' will have a two-week exclusive run in IMAX theaters globally starting November 25, before debuting on Netflix on December 23, according to Deadline.
