It includes bonus scenes, among them a revised ending featuring Loki and a post-credits moment depicting the TVA responding to incursions that destroy thousands of timelines. Last weekend's $86 million global debut for Encore made it the second-highest-grossing re-release ever, behind only the 2012 3D re-release of Titanic. The film also topped the domestic box office in its first frame with $26 million, beating new releases including Brad Pitt's Heart of the Beast and Robert Pattinson's Primetime, The Hollywood Reporter noted.

Disney's Avengers: Endgame has overtaken James Cameron's Avatar to become the highest-grossing movie in history. The re-release, which opened the previous weekend with an $86 million global haul, is explicitly timed to build anticipation for Avengers: Doomsday, the next Russo brothers-directed Marvel film due December 18. Endgame first passed Avatar in July 2019, only for Avatar to reclaim the spot ahead of its 2022 sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water.

The record-setting performance arrives as Disney and Marvel Studios prepare for Avengers: Doomsday, which reunites directors Anthony and Joe Russo with the franchise. That film opens December 18, the same day Warner Bros. releases Dune: Part Three. Anthony Russo, speaking at a Q&A attended by GamesRadar+, acknowledged the scale of the upcoming film's cast, saying, "The cast is so large, and we've announced some of the cast, and we haven't announced some of the cast. I get confused myself over who we've announced and not announced, so I have to just slow down."

Endgame, released in April 2019, was directed by the Russo brothers and starred Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, and Jeremy Renner. Avatar, released in December 2009, held the global record for a decade before Endgame first surpassed it. The all-time global box office record has changed hands once again.
